Brasília - The Ministry of Labor has a crucial role in a government led by a president who heads a worker's party. It's principal mission is to deal with unemployment in a world where jobs have become the greatest challenge facing XXI century governments.

That is what minister of Labor, Ricardo Berzoini, declared at a ceremony where union leader Alencar Rodrigues Ferreira Júnior took office as the new executive secretary of the ministry.

Berzoini declared that the solution to the problem of social inclusion is jobs in a world undergoing great economic and technological changes.

The minister criticized the manner that funds from the Worker Assistance Fund (FAT) and mandatory worker savings fund (FGTS) were used in the past. He said the Lula government would use those funds more efficiently. (AB)
