Beef exports rose 42% in January

Brasília, 2/13/2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Brazilian beef exports jumped 42.6% in January, compared to January 2003.

Sales totalled US$99.6 million. And with a 30% rise in international prices, the average price per ton of beef in natura was US$2,015.

Last year Brazil was the world's biggest exporter of beef, with 1.3 million tons. This year sales are expected to rise by 20%. (AB)
