Dulci says that economic growth will not generate all the needed jobs

Brasília, February 10, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The President's administrative chief of staff, Minister Luiz Dulci, acknowledged, during a meeting organized yesterday (9) by the Workers Party's representatives in Congress, that the resumption of growth will not generate all the jobs necessary to meet the targets set by the government. "The resumption of growth always produces jobs in sectors of the economy, but it doesn't produce all the jobs that are needed," he affirmed.

In Dulci's assessment, the government and society made a significant effort in 2003 to recover the economic stability the country had lost.

Dulci denied that the government is going to put the investments programmed in the 2004 budget on a contingency basis. "What the government intends is to maintain a posture of fiscal responsibility." (DAS)
