Brasília, 2/4/2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Zero Hunger program went beyond the physical limitations of the project. People all over the country, instead of complaining about what was lacking, did what was possible. Zero Hunger worked because people believed in it, said president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, speaking at a ceremony celebrating the program's first anniversary.

At the ceremony, the II National Conference on Food Security was announced. It will take place in Olinda, Pernambuco, from March 17 to 20.

According to Lula, there has never been public participation in a program like that in the Zero Hunger program. (AB)
