Brasília, 2/4/2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - China is interested in making investments in infrastructure in Brazil, especially in railroads. On the other hand, it wants to import farm produce from Brazil.
The executive secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Amauri Dimarzio, says this is a mutually beneficial negotiation. "China needs to supply its market, Brazil needs infrastructure to reduce transportation costs," he declared.
Brazil could supply part of the Chinese demand for soybeans (estimated at 30 million tons annually), cotton and alcohol-based fuels. (AB)
