Rio, 1/29/2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Food was more expensive in January with prices rising 0.62%, compared to 0.24% in December, as measured by the Broad Consumer Price Index-15 (IPCA-15) survey, which is conducted by the Statistical Bureau (IBGE). The survey found that many fruit and vegetable prices rose, but that the real villain was the tomato, up between 7% and 16%. (AB)
