Fipe's IPC rises 0.74% in the third four-week period

Brasília, January 28, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Inflation in the municipality of São Paulo rose to 0.74% in the third four-week period of the month, according to the Institute of Economic Research Foundation's (Fipe) Consumer Price Index (IPC). The increase in the previous projection was 0.71%.

The Education group registered the greatest price increase (6.94%), followed by personal items (1.40%), food (0.90%), transportation (0.53%), health (0.17%), housing (0.04%), and clothing (0.04%).

Variations in the index calculated by the Fipe are based on people with a family income of between 1 and 20 minimum wages. (DAS)
