Mumbai – Brazil has a lot it can teach the world, says Tamo Chattopadhay, of Columbia University, who is also a visiting researcher at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ) and the Rio Research Center for Child Policy.

Chattopadhay has been working with educational projects for five years and is running a workshop at the 4th World Social Forum in Mumbai where he hopes to promote an exchange of information between what is being done in Brazil, especially programs such as the School Scholarship and Tutor Counseling programs, and Indian educators. He says the big problem Brazil faces is a language barrier. "Unfortunately, the axis of ideas runs from New York to Geneva to Washington," he says. (AB)
