Unemployment falls in November - for the first time this year

Rio, 12/24/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - For the first time this year, the unemployment rate fell. That happened in November, when it went from 12.9% to 12.2% (the unemployment rate in October). The drop was expected, due to the opening of jobs for the holiday season.

Compared to November 2002, unemployment was up 1.3 percentage points.

With regard to wages, from October to November they remained stable at R$835.80, but compared to November 2002, they were down 13%. (AB)
