Brasília, 12/4/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The UN world summit of Information Societies has elected Brazil's IRS (Receita Federal) website one of the five best in the world in the category "government," and the best in Latin America.
The summit examined 800 sites from 134 countries as part of a United Nations project on infrastructure focused on internet content quality and creativity. There were eight categories: e-Learning, e-Culture, e-Science, e-Government, e-Health, e-Business, e-Entertainment and a special category, e-Inclusion.
Brazil's Receita Federal site has already received 13 awards in Brazil, along with honorable mention by Microsoft and the European Economic Community. (AB)
