Imports rose 8.3% in third week of November

Brasília, 11/25/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The average daily value of imports by Brazil in the third week of November rose 8.3%, compared to the same period in 2002. According to the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), the average daily value of imports was US$208.4 million, compared to US$192.4 in 2002.

Imports were strongest in fertilizers (up39.2%) and cereals (up 23.9%), along with mechanical equipment (up 10.9%) and fuels and lubricants (up 8.4%).

As a result, November imports are now at US$1.022 billion, and for the year at US$43.142 billion. (AB)
