Swiss International asks Embraer to postpone aircraft order

São Paulo, November 4, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Brazilian Aeronautics Company (Embraer) confirmed that it received a request from Swiss International Air Lines to postpone orders for the construction of EMBRAER 170 and EMBRAER 195 aircraft.

According to Embraer, "although no decision has been taken on this matter up to now, the companies are discussing possible options. Only 4 deliveries (of EMBRAER 170's) to Swiss International are currently scheduled for 2004, and since the potential short-term demand for EMBRAER 170 production slots is great, Embraer estimates that there will be no reduction in its projected deliveries in 2004."

This March, Embraer announced an agreement with Swiss International to revise the program for renovation of the fleet. On this occasion, the aircraft manufacturer was informed of a reduction in the number of EMBRAER 170's and EMBRAER 195's ordered, from 60, the initial figure, to 15, for each model. (DAS)
