Brasília, 10/22/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The latest Sensus opinion poll, which is sponsored by the National Transportation Confederation (CNT), found that the country's satisfaction index was stable at 51.1. The poll also found a drop of 7 points in the popularity of president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The poll also found that 81.5% of those interviewed said taxes were too high and that the government did not spend money well. Half of those interviewed said they were not familiar with the government's tax reform bill. On the other hand, 74% of those interviewed said they favored gun control (known as the "disarmament bill," which is now in congress).

The poll was conducted between October 15 and 17, in 195 municipalities where 2,000 people were interviewed. (AB)
