Encounter promotes environmental education in Alto Paraíso

Brasília, October 14, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Beginning yesterday (13), around 30 participants from all over Brazil are gathering in Alto Paraíso, in the Chapada dos Veadeiros (Deerhound Plateau), in the state of Goiás, at the 4th National Environmental Education Workshop for Integrated Conservation and Development Programs.

Sponsored by the WWF-Brasil (World Wildlife Fund - Brazil), the meeting has as its goal the preparation of Environmental Educators. The Fund is developing an environmental education project in the region for the conservation of the highlands and the Alto Tocantins Watershed. The WWF-Brasil, which was created in 1996 and has its headquarters in Brasília, is an independent non-profit organization that acts throughout the country to protect the environment and promote sustainable development.
