Brasília, October 2, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - On Tuesday (1), legislators and organizations opposed to the Provisional Measure (MP) that authorized the cultivation of genetically modified soybeans launched a national movement against the government's decision. The purpose is to persuade the government to reconsider the MP. Approximately 50 legislators from various parties and 60 social organizations signed a note repudiating the publication of MP 113.

The anti-transgenic movement also called for a national plebiscite on the use of transgenics in human nutrition. (DAS)
