Brazil wants to increase market share in Asia

Rio, 9/12/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Brazil seeks a greater market participation in China, India, Japan and Korea, and wants more cooperation with Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia, reports the director of the Department of Asia and Oceania at the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Edmundo Sussumu Fujita. He made the remark at an international seminar sponsored by the Fundação Getúlio Vargas and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

The ministry has been running studies to find promising areas around the world for Brazil in the areas of farm produce, high tech, energy, manufactured goods, mining, chemicals and pharmaceutical goods, information technology, tourism, consultancy and scientific-academic exchange programs. According to Fujita, the ministry will be sending commercial missions to Asia in order to present a new image of Brazil as a country ready for restructuring, where there are many business opportunities and as an attractive investment destination.
