Brasília, September 10, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Central Workers' Union (CUT) and the Workers' Force will request a 20% average salary readjustment for workers in commerce, banks, and metallurgical and petroleum companies, categories eligible for salary readjustments in the second half of the year. The two central unions launched the Unified National Salary Campaign today.
However, the president of the CUT, Luiz Marinho, is already foreseeing that the campaign will not be easy, despite the fact that working together redoubles forces. "The current economic situation is not good, companies don't have much fat to yield, but we believe that, with persistence, we shall be able to consolidate a good proposal during the course of negotiations," he said.
