Imports of meat from Argentina remain suspended after cases of foot and mouth disease

Brasília, 9/9/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Ministry of Agriculture reports that the suspension of meat imports from Argentina, which went into effect on Friday, remains in place until further notice. Brazil has halted imports of all meat: cattle, buffalo, goats, pigs and sheep. Argentina informed Brazil officially two weeks ago of cases of foot and mouth disease in the province of Salta, near the northern border of Argentina with Bolivia. (AB)
