Brasília, 8/29/2003 - The special representative of the United Nations in Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello, who died in the terrorist attack on UN headquarters in Baghdad on August 19, was buried yesterday in the Plainpalais Cemetery in Geneva, Switzerland, in a private ceremony.
Along with the family, guests included José Ramos Horta, the East Timor minister of Foreign Relations and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and the American singer, Barbara Hendricks, a personal friend of Serigo Vieira, who sang farewell songs. (AB)
