Rio, 8/6/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Rio de Janeiro state secretary of Agriculture, Supply, Fishing and Interior Development, Christino Aureo, says that petroleum royalties could be used to bolster state agriculture. "As one drives around the countryside, it is clear that we still have an African development model: riches in the sea, poverty inland. It is an unacceptable situation. And as long as that is true public policy can only be described as dysfunctional," declared Aureo. (AB)
