Brasília, August 5, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The government of the United States is interested in establishing a partnership with the Brazilian government to help Brazil resolve social problems, especially in the area of human rights. To become better acquainted with Brazilian reality, a delegation of advisors to the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee met on Monday (4) with the special secretary for Human Rights, Minister Nilmário Miranda.

Following the meeting, one of the representatives of the American delegation, Carl Meacham, said that no agreement has yet been reached, but that the visit served "to learn a little more about the politics and economics of Lula's Administration." (DAS)
