Brazil-Argentina frontier commemorates 100 years of demarcation

Brasília, July 23, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Today (23), the 100th anniversary of the demarcation of the Brazil-Argentina frontier is being commemorated in Foz do Iguaçu (PR). Among other events on the program, scheduled to begin at 10 A.M., are the unveiling of a centenary plaque and cultural presentations by both countries.

Participants include: the governor of Paraná, Roberto Requião; a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Pedro Fernando Bretas Bastos; the president of the National Commission on International Borders of Argentina, Ambassador Horácio Chalian; the head of the Second Brazilian Border Demarcation Commission, Coronel Juvenal Milton Engel; and the president of the Paraná Association of Municipalities, Joarez Lima Henrichs.

The celebration will continue through this coming Sunday (27). (DAS)
