CABACEIRAS
The name Cabaceiras comes from a plant with the same name, very abundant in the region. The "cabaceira" plant grows close to the ground, has large leaves, and produces the "cabaça" (gourd), an oblong fruit.
When the gourd is dry, the upper part is sawed off in the form of a bottleneck, transforming the gourd into an excellent water recipient.
The municipality of Cabaceiras is known as the "Land of the Crosses," among which the most important are the Stone Cross, the Rosary Cross, the Century Cross, and the Girl's Cross.
