Brasília, 7/4/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The governor of Piauí, Wellington Dias (PT), reports that his state payroll will become unsustainable in ten years time if there is no social security system reform.

Dias joined another Northeast region governor, Ronaldol Lessa (PSB) of Alagoas, in testifying before the Chamber of Deputies Special Commission on Social Security Refrorm. Lessa said he was in favor of taxing retirees as a way to safeguard the retirement benefits of civil servants. (AB)
