Brasília, July 3, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said today, during the commemoration of the 181st anniversary of the Ministry of Justice, that Brazil needs to recuperate the sense of justice for all citizens. According to the President, the country is going through a period of change, and "we need to believe once more that institutions exist to serve people and not to be lackeys at the pleasure of those who command them."

The President's call for changes occurs at a juncture when the Congress is meeting in special session to analyze the tax, social security, and Judicial reforms, among other items. (DAS)
