Porto Alegre, January 28, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Federation of Family Farm Workers in the Southern Region (Fetraf-Sul/CUT) estimates that the Family Farm Fair, set up at the World Social Forum, made over R$ 300 thousand. They calculate that more than eight thousand people visited the fair, during the five days of the event. The organizers of the fair met with representatives of international agencies to define partnerships and actions in areas such as the cultivation of transgenic plants and at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
For Eloir Griseli, Fetraf coordinator in Rio Grande do Sul, the event's success surpassed expectations. "We achieved all of our objectives, and we were able to establish important relationships at the national and international level," he said, recalling the Fair's objectives: to sell products, exhibit family agro-industry, and create exchanges with representatives of organizations in Brazil and the rest of the world.
