Paris (France), January 28, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Minister of Foreign Relations, Ambassador Celso Amorim, confessed today that, even with the subsidies that France provides agricultural products, detrimental to Brazilian exports, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will leave France with a good feeling about negotiating reductions in trade barriers.
According to the Minister, during Lula's meeting with President Jacques Chirac, no practical steps were taken to reduce the subsidies, but Europe is interested in strengthening relations with Brazil. (DAS)
