Porto Alegre, January 28, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Global activists for the defense of and the right to water are organizing a series of protests against the World Water Forum, which will be held in Kyoto, Japan, from March 16 to 23.

The activist Leonardo Morelli informed today, at the conclusion of the World Social Forum, that the meeting in Japan will gather government authorities and directors of large corporations interested in privatizing water on the planet.

As well as the demonstration in Asia, according to Morelli, the plan is to organize Social Forums on Water on the same dates in South America, Africa, North America, and Europe. The proposal also includes holding a World Social Forum on Water. (DAS)
