Porto Alegre, January 27, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - A commission of international observers at the World Social Forum, today, received complaints by the Committee of Users of Means of Communication in Venezuela against four television stations and two newspapers in that country. The media are accused of manipulating and distorting information about political and social reality in Venezuela. The initiative to establish a commission, which will act as a jury, came from the non-governmental organization Global Media Watch. Adolfo Perez Esquivel, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, is president of the commission of judges who will decide how to go about investigating the complaints. (DAS)
