Rio, 6/12/2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) –The president of the Spanish Economic and Social Council, Jaime Montalvo Correa, who is visiting Brazil, declared that because of a social pact in Spain, characterized by a social dialogue, it has been possible for the country to grow at 3% annually and reduce unemployment.
Montalva said that it is a waste of time to try to grow without redistribution of income. He also said that it is rare for Spanish politicians to do anything that the council, through its contact with unions and management, has not agreed on. (AB)
