Brasília, December 4, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Federal Senate commemorated today the International Day of Solidarity for the Palestinian People. On the occasion, senator Maguito Vilela (PMDB-GO) warned about the resurgence of conflict between Palestinians and the State of Israel, and Lúdio Coelho (PSDB-MS) exacted initiatives by Middle Eastern countries to bring about a reconciliation between Palestine and Israel. Senator Roberto Saturnino (PT-RJ) recalled that everybody has a duty to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinians. The session was attended by the Palestinian ambassador and diplomats from that nation, as well as representatives of other Arab-speaking countries. (DAS)
