Brasília – The race for mayor of Salvador, Bahia, is one of the closest in the country – after all, in the first round of voting ACM Neto (DEM) came in ahead of Nelson Pelegrino (PT) by a razor thin single percentage point.

The final total for voting on October 7 was: ACM Neto 518,976 votes for 40.17%; and Nelson Pelegrino 513,350 votes for 39.17%.

Bahia is Brazil’s eighth biggest state in economic terms.
