Brasília – President Dilma Rousseff, speaking at the United Nations as she opened the 67th General Assembly, declared that the UN Sustainable Development Conference, Rio+20, which took place in June, established a new paradigm as it shined a powerful spotlight on climate change, deforestation, efficient use of natural resources and the need for standards of sustainability.
Dilma pointed out that the government of Brazil is committed to setting up control mechanisms and relentlessly combating deforestation in the Amazon. She called for all nations to join the effort for a better planet.
