Brasília – Today (July 26) the government announced that this year, up to the end of June, 29.8% of projects in the Accelerated Growth Program (“Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento – PAC”), have been completed. In a PAC balance sheet report, it was revealed that during the 2011-2012 period a total of R$324 billion was spent on PAC.
The amount invested by the government in PAC this year, January to June, totaling R$211 billion, is 84% more than in 2011.
It is estimated that overall, between 2011 and 2014, R$955 billion will be spent on PAC. Out of that total, 74%, or R$708 billion, will go into projects completed by 2014. The remaining 26%, which includes large projects (“obras de grande porto”) such as the Belo Monte hydroelectric power plant, will be concluded after 2014.
