São Paulo – Sunday night firemen dug through rubble searching for victims in a building that collapsed partially around 7:30 pm on Avenida Índico in the center of São Bernardo do Campo. The city, with over 750,000 people, is in the greater São Paulo metropolitan region, distant some 22 kilometers from the center of São Paulo.
The building had 14 floors and according to the fire department, 13 floors fell like dominos, gutting the interior of the building where there were residential apartments and offices.
A child three years of age was killed. Six people were injured and at least one 25-year-old girl is missing.
