NEWS IN ENGLISH – Brazil sets a new record in farm exports

Brasilia – Brazilian exports of farm produce for the year up to the month of November reached a record $87 billion, which is over 24% more than during the same period last year.


Soy products (grain, flakes or oil) accounted for almost $23 billion, an increase of 8% in volume over 2010. However, because of a spike in international prices the value of Brazil’s soy exports were up 39% this year, compared to 2010.


Sugar and ethanol exports were worth $15 billion this year, an increase of 18.9% over last year.


Meat exports were worth $14.35 billion, up 14.8%.


Brazil’s farm produce exports rose significantly in all regions of the world. In Africa they were up 42%, Oceania up 49.6%, Western Europe up 33%, Asia up 31%, Nafta up 22.5%, Mercosur up 20% and European Union up 18%.
