Brasília – President Dilma Rousseff declared that inflation is an “immense concern” to the government and that price increases would be fought.
At the beginning of April, the minister of Finance, Guido Mantega, announced an increase in taxes on loans made abroad, as well as higher costs for personal loans in Brazil. At that time, Mantega declared that further measures could be implemented to counter inflation pressure and halt the devaluation of the dollar.
President Dilma said that under no circumstances would the government let up on its inflation vigilance. “We are focused on this problem and are prepared to combat it relentlessly,” she declared.
