Brasília – In her weekly radio program, Breakfast with the President, president Dilma Rousseff declared that the principal objectives of her trip to China were successfully achieved. The doors have been opened so more Brazilian goods can get in, she said. “We really got a lot done during the trip,” she stated.
Dilma went on to highlight the importance of agreements in science and technology and the many business deals closed with Asian companies.
“We are making investments that will not only bring money and new technology, but will also create thousands of jobs,” the president explained.
Emphasizing the need to invest in training Brazilian workers, especially in information technology, she said the entrance of Chinese companies in Brazil would make cell phones, television sets and tablets cheaper.
“I am very satisfied with the results of the China trip. We made a leap in the quality of our relations, but we still want more. Today we sell a lot of raw material to China. We want to continue to do so, but expand our exports to include items with a higher aggregate value,” she said.
With regard to the Brics summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), Dilma said it was important – discussing development, combating poverty, seeking more balance in world trade and control of financial speculation.
