Brasília – President Dilma Rousseff traveled 24 hours, with a stopover in Greece, to get to China. She rested on Monday, April 11, but yesterday was a day of intense work. She met with the Chinese president at two different events: High-Level Talks on Science, Technology and Innovation, and a Business Seminar.

While she is in China, Dilma will neet a number of other Chinese authorities. She will also attend the 3rd Summit of the Bric - emerging or emerged nation group – Brazil, Russia, India and China - plus, for the first time, South Africa. Each country will be represented by its leader: Dmitri Medvedev, Manmohan Singh, Hu Jintao and Jacob Zuma.

The Brics summit will be on April 14 and will discuss United Nations reform and changes in the international financial system. With the inclusion of South Africa, the Brics have greatly expanded their geopolitical presence to the point where they literally girdle the world. The group also now represents around 25% of the planet’s total GDP. Brazil, India and South Africa will push for progress on talks regarding modifications in the makeup of the UN Security Council.

On April 15, Dilma will participate in the 10 Annual Boao Forum, which is an Asian World Economic Forum.

On her return trip to Brazil, where she is scheduled to arrive on April 18, Dilmia will make stopovers in Prague and Lisbon.
