Brazil sends 400,000 vaccines for rabies to Peru

Rio, 6/27/2006 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The labels on the vaccines, which are being used for the first time, read: "Brazil - Ministry of Health - Humanitarian Aid" (Brasil, ajuda humanitária, do Ministério da Saúde). The vaccines, 400,000 of them, are for canine rabies which has reached epidemic proportions in Peru.

Spokespersons for the ministry report that the vaccines were manufactured in Paraná. They are scheduled to arrive in Peru tonight (June 27).
