Brasília, November 22, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - President Fernando Henrique Cardoso says that when he leaves the government on December 31, after eight years in office, he intends to relax and rest. He says the work at the end of the government has been "more than he imagined," and that he is sure he will feel relieved when it is all over.

With regard to a proposal to make ex-presidents non-voting senators for life, Cardoso said he was opposed to the idea, and always had been opposed to it. (AB)
