Brasília, 19 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Minister of Justice, Paulo de Tarso Ribeiro, met yesterday with leaders of Indian nations Xavante and Waura, of Mato Grosso; Terena, from Mato Grosso do Sul; Kaiapó, from Pará; and Xokleng, from Santa Catarina, who expressed their dissatisfaction with a bill by senator Romero Jucá (PSDB/Roraima), which would permit mining on Indian lands and give the Indians only 2.5% of the revenue. The Indians said they wanted more participation in decison- making processes which affect them.

According to Mirian Terena, the president of the Council of Indian Women, the bill was not discussed with the Indian communities. "We are opposed to this document," she said. Indian chief Raoni declared that the bill "could destroy and pollute our lands." (AB)
