Brasília, 24 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The secretary for Human Rights, Paulo Sérgio Pinheiro, participated in the launch of the Human Rights Observatories project in Rio de Janeiro on Friday. The project will set up groups of youths in areas characterized by violence who will gather information on the location, which will result in a better understanding of the community and create the possibility of transforming it. A university student will monitor the work. The youths will receive financial assistance.

The Human Rights Observatories project began in São Paulo two years ago and now operates in Belém (Pará), Salvador (Bahia), Recife (Pernambuco), Vitória (Espírito Santo) and São Paulo. The idea is to extend it nationwide. (AB)
