Brasilia, 12 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Concerned with improving the quality of education, nations of the American continent have been implementing a series of measures to verify the educational performance of their students. A consultation with the 19 nations of the Americas shows that there are national evaluation systems in 15 of them. Now these countries want to take a step further. They want to establish indicators of quality that will allow for a comparison of the results of each nation's program.

The efforts to turn this idea into reality will gain a boost with the realization of the 'Hemispheric Forum on Educational Evaluation', which begins today in Brasilia. During the 3 days of the event, the participating nations will reveal their national experiences with educational evaluation and representatives of international organizations will present studies and activities developed in this area.
