Brasília, 8 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Secretariat for Human Rights, at the Ministry of Justice, has been following the case of the massacre of Eldorado dos Carajás (Pará), in which 19 rural landless workers were killed by military police in April of 1996. "The case has become a symbol of rural tension in Brazil and got wide coverage in the media. The Brazilian government immediately expressed its indignation with what happened and has assisted in gathering facts for the case," says a note from the Secretariat, adding that Brazil has made important progress in reducing rural conflict through agrarian development.
