Rio de Janeiro, 26 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Since its creation in 1985, the Electricity Conservation Program (Procel) has helped Brazil economize 13.5 billion KWh, reports Antonio Varejão de Godoy, head of Procel Special Project Development. "You have to remember that the moment you reduce electricity consumption you need fewer hydroelectric power plants and you no longer have to dam up a river and create a lake that will damage the environment," said Godoy, as he announced the Procel target of economizing 4 billion KWh per year.
