Brasília, 23 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Minister of Agriculture, Pratini de Moraes, has delivered a document to the US Secretary of Agriculture proving that cattle exported by Brazil are free of foot and mouth disease. The document is in answer to American restrictions on Brazilian beef after indications of the disease in Rio Grande do Sul.

Pratini de Morais said he was unsatisfied with the Farm Bill that increases subsidies, saying the practice infringes multilateral commerce rules and drives international prices down.

The minister added that within the next few days, Brazil will formally register complaints at the World Trade Organization (WTO) because of the Farm Bill and protectionistic measures by the European Union (EU) on sugar.

It is estimated that Brazil will lose, this year, US$2 billion in exports of corn, soybean and cotton because of the Farm Bill.
