Rio de Janeiro – After 55 days on strike, Federal Police officers and administrative personnel (specifically, clerks and fingerprint/identification experts) have voted unanimously to continue their strike.

However, the three worker categories say they will obey a decision by the Superior Appellate Court (“Superior Tribunal de Justiça – STJ”) to maintain skeleton crews so that public services will not be completely disrupted.

They also say they will respect an agreement with the Chief Justice of the Superior Electoral Court, Cármen Lúcia, to ensure that enough police remain on duty next Sunday, October 7, when the first round of voting in municipal elections take place.
