Brasília, 2/5/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - A report on hunger in Brazil by the UN Human Rights Commission, which will be released in March, is strongly critical of the situation.

The UN official responsible for Food Rights, Jean Ziegler, explains that the document covers the past few years. "My report is critical because it was prepared last year. The Lula government has changed everything. The Zero Hunger Program is a source of hope for the UN, for Europe and the whole world."

Ziegler just met with president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and reports that Lula intends to send the UN commission a message explaining to the world how Brazil is going to eliminate hunger over the next four years. (AB)
