Program for online sale of securities achieving goal

Brasilia, 22 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The National Treasury Secretary, Fábio Barbosa, revealed Thursday that a total of R$ 8,914,000 (approx. US$ 3.7 million) in federal securities have been sold over the Internet since January 7, when the 'Direct Treasury' program was implemented. According to the secretary, 1,431 online operations for the sale of bonds were carried out in 137 cities of 23 Brazilian states.
The average value of these operations has been R$ 6,229 (around US$ 2,579). The majority of securities sold, or 83.7%, were National Treasury Notes (LTNs). Secretary Barbosa informed still that the 'Direct Treasury' program is achieving its goal of popularizing access to federal securities and that 34.9% of investors invest less than R$ 1,000 (US$ 414).
